Chapter 1386: Section 1387: Positioning
Chapter 1386: Section 1387: Positioning
“What are you still lying on the ground for?” Angel’s voice reached Natasha’s ears and in a daze, she looked over.
“The sorrowful energy from beneath the ground has not dissipated, indicating that the undead that just attacked us were only a small part. There might be more of them lying in ambush underground, so… do you intend to keep lying there as live bait?”
It took Natasha quite a while to realize what he meant, was it suggesting that what happened earlier was not an illusion?
Just as Natasha was about to ask for more details, suddenly, a grating roar came from behind her.
She felt as though her soul had been brushed by a chill, gloomy wind; the negative energy brought by the wind enveloped Natasha, causing her entire being to shiver from the inside out as if she had fallen into an ice cellar.
“The wailing of the undead!” Immediately, Natasha’s mind recognized that she had been subjected to the wail of the undead, but realizing it did not mean she could defend against it. She was still as paralyzed as before, unable to move, feeling only the increasingly cold wind at her back…
Just then, Natasha suddenly heard a faint sigh, barely audible.
Accompanied by the sigh was a silent yet visible ripple in the air, and since Natasha was facing Angel, she could clearly see that the ripple originated from the gun in Angel’s hands.
As ripples surged out from the muzzle of the gun, they spread quickly like ripples on water.
Everyone in front of Angel, including Natasha, was within the range of these ripples. However, Natasha didn’t feel anything amiss within the ripples; instead, the undead behind her, emanating a chill, began to wail miserably.
The trembling aura abruptly vanished.
When Natasha felt she could move again, she violently turned her head and her pupils reflected an unbelievable scene!
Not far behind her, a terrifying figure of an undead in red robes screamed piercingly as its body disintegrated into numerous points of light, like a carefully crafted sand sculpture meeting a hurricane, scattered in an instant until it completely disappeared.
Natasha watched the dispersing lights of the undead, then turned back to look at the strange gun in Angel’s hand.
“Is this the truth?” Natasha murmured softly to herself.
Was this the true reason why all the undead vanished in an instant earlier? Were they eradicated by the gun in a single shot?
“There’s still the presence of undead gathering this way, are you sure you want to keep sitting on the ground?” Angel frowned as he looked at Natasha.
Natasha finally stood up, still in a daze.
“Continue leading the way,” Angel’s eyes held a trace of suspicion, feeling that this half-mechanical being was somewhat slow. Could it be that when the mechanical body was damaged earlier, her brain was also affected?
Angel did not hide the thoughts in his eyes, causing Natasha to feel both embarrassed and annoyed. But now was not the time for explanations; she could only hold her breath, turn around, and continue walking forward.
They weren’t far from the node, and just as she had surmised, in this short stretch of a few tens of meters, countless undead swarmed toward her.
Initially, Natasha was somewhat frightened, as dealing with the undead was not so simple. But as time passed, her mood settled from hanging in mid-air to firmly grounding, becoming composed.
Each time Angel fired his gun, he took not one or two undead but a whole area of them.
Once, Natasha had taken only two steps when hundreds of undead burst from the cliff beside her, but their mournful cry was cut short by a rippling wave that swept them away without a trace.
Natasha had never seen such a speed of clearing undead before.
Could that gun be an Alchemy Weapon specifically designed to deal with undead? If so, its efficiency of eradicating them was terrifying!
Natasha once followed an Official Wizard who used the Exile Technique against these undead, and it wasn’t nearly as fast. Moreover, there was always a limit to the number of undead that could be exiled at a time, not as convenient as Angel’s present method of clearing them.
Speaking of which, even Sanders was a bit shocked by the speed at which Angel cleared the undead.
Of course, he knew the effects of the Samsara Overture, but this was his first time seeing its efficiency in clearing such a multitude of undead.
If Sanders had to do it, maybe he could clear as many, but the consumption would be terribly frightening and the speed might not match Angel’s.
That’s the irreplaceability of alchemy products in special environments.
Wave upon wave of undead were eradicated, and by the time Natasha reached the location of the node, the sorrowful energy of the undead around her had faded to an extreme thinness.
Natasha, sensing the efficiency of the cleanup, couldn’t help but wonder if Angel took that strange gun in his hand and eliminated all the undead around them, could the siege on Black Castle be immediately lifted? After all, what that guy relied on was the endless stream of undead.
As long as the undead were dealt with, the damned one hiding behind the scenes could be destroyed!
Natasha was somewhat excited at the thought, but she also knew that asking someone out of the blue to do this was a bit unreasonable. Moreover, given her status, why should anyone listen to her?
With this in mind, Natasha could only suppress her feelings. She herself was incapable, but that didn’t mean others weren’t. Perhaps if she told the Queen, with the Queen’s abilities, she would find a way to do it.
Natasha couldn’t wait to get to the node, and turning her head, said, “Since the undead have blocked all the paths outside Black Castle, we can only return through the surrounding space nodes. I’m going to activate the node now, and if the undead attack me, I hope Sir will help clear them out.”
Angel nodded noncommittally.
Natasha immediately began to activate the space node, which was actually quite similar to a short-distance teleportation array but more secretive and strict; it required confirmation at both ends of the node to transport.
Therefore, Natasha needed some time to verify her identity, allowing the operator behind the node to confirm it.
While Natasha worked, two waves of undead really did come her way. However, their numbers were not great, and Angel still managed to clear them easily.
After that, the undead completely disappeared, not showing up again until Natasha began communicating with the person behind the node.
Natasha breathed a sigh of relief, but Angel felt a sense of regret. In fact, he enjoyed clearing out these undead because he could use the opportunity to gather White Light Bullets.
Originally, to turn Tullas from undead back into a spirit, he had consumed all six White Light Bullets in his magazine, and since then, he had not had the chance to replenish them, as he could not find a place with so many undead.
Angel’s initial plan was to go to the Sea of Undead whenever he got the chance and replenish his magazine. However, because other plans took precedence, that trip had always been put off. Now, in Black Castle, he saw the hope of refilling it.
However, on this journey, Angel had only killed roughly sixteen hundred undead, and it took at least two thousand undead to make a single White Light Bullet, so he hadn’t actually managed to gather one yet.
This was why, when the undead vanished completely, Angel felt regret.
Natasha had a lengthy conversation with the person at the other node before this node finally began activating.
However, after activation, Natasha’s expression was cautious and helpless, “I’ve informed the people on the other side, but they too can’t decide whether or not to let the two of you in. They can’t leave their posts either, so they’ve only opened one transport slot, hoping I can go over first and then inform the higher-ups before making a decision.”
Natasha’s tone was tentative, as both individuals were significant figures—one, a renowned War God of the Southern Domain, and the other, although his identity hadn’t been disclosed, his strange gun might very well lift the siege on Black Castle, so she was afraid of offending them with her words.
Angel glanced at Sanders, and while Natasha’s words felt somewhat uncomfortable to him, he wouldn’t make the decision; this was definitely a matter for Sanders to approve.
Sanders’s expression was indifferent, his icy aura causing Natasha to grow involuntarily timid.
After a long while, Sanders nodded, “Fine.”
Natasha exhaled as if relieved and promptly returned to the node. A flash of light later, she vanished from sight.
When Natasha disappeared, Sanders and Angel almost simultaneously turned their heads to look towards the location of Black Castle.
Sanders looked at Angel with some surprise, “You sensed it too?”
Angel nodded, a strange expression on his face, “I can feel that the direction in which Natasha was transported should be to Black Castle. However, it seems to be some special space beneath it.”
Sanders gave Angel a deep look, nodding, “You’re not wrong in your assessment, it seems your talent in the Space Series is not too shabby.”
Previously, when Sanders learned that Angel’s first witchcraft slot had opened to space displacement, he speculated that another hidden talent in Angel’s Spirit Sea might be in the Space Series. Now, it seemed quite likely that this was the case; otherwise, how could Angel, who was still an Apprentice, capture a fleeting Spatial Beacon?
Sanders did not say much more on the subject of the second talent, deciding that once Angel became an Official Wizard, then it would be time to confirm it.
Knowing the exact location of Black Castle, Sanders and Angel could both enter it at will. However, since they had agreed to Natasha’s suggestion, they chose not to do so.
The reason Sanders agreed to Natasha’s suggestion was precisely that he had no intention of declaring war on Black Castle. They had come to Black Castle in a way that did not adhere to visitation etiquette, and entering the domain of Black Castle uninvited was already somewhat inappropriate. To go in heedlessly would be tantamount to declaring war on Black Castle.
After all, with a Wizard of the Twilight King’s caliber within Black Castle, Sanders felt it necessary to proceed with the utmost caution.
