Chapter 6235: Old Cat’s Answer

Chapter 6235: Old Cat’s Answer

“Why doesn’t your father rescue your mother?” Old Cat asked.

“I don’t know either. I can’t see through my father’s thoughts. No matter the reason, I need to check on my mother and verify that she’s fine. Old Cat, I don’t know what’s your cultivation level, but I can tell you are very strong now. That’s why I am making this request to you.

“I’ll remember this favor if you help me, but it is understandable for you to turn down my request too. I won’t hold a grudge over this,” Chu Feng said with sincere eyes.

Even though Chu Feng’s father had restored the energy in Old Cat’s carcass, and Chu Feng had chosen to save Old Cat despite the opportunity to take the latter’s life, Chu Feng believed that Old Cat had the right to turn down his request.

Old Cat might owe him a favor, but that didn’t mean he was obliged to do anything Chu Feng asked of him.

Besides, Chu Feng also had his considerations for sparing Old Cat. If Old Cat hadn’t survived, he would have been dead too.

Old Cat lowered his head and fell into contemplation.

Chu Feng patiently waited for his answer.

In the end, Old Cat lifted his head and replied, “I’ll give you an answer later. For now, let me deal with these ingrates first.”

Old Cat ordered the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s Clan Chief to gather all his clansmen via their clan-protection formation.

The clan chief, being a coward, dared not defy Old Cat. He still held onto the hope that Old Cat might spare him if he was obedient enough.

Oblivious to the danger, the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen assembled in their square. They steered clear of the elevated platform at the center of the square, reserving it for their clan chief. The mood was merry as they thought their clan chief was going to hold a celebratory banquet.

But all of them froze up when several figures suddenly crashed into the elevated platform. These were the people whom they had been waiting for—their clan chief and their clan’s top experts.

How did they land in this pitiful state?

As fear and confusion rippled through the crowd, a few more figures descended on the elevated platform. It was Chu Feng, Old Cat, and the others.

Old Cat landed on the clan chief and stomped his foot through the latter’s body, crushing his dantian. The clan chief’s wretched cry echoed resoundingly across the square.

That jolted the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen awake. All of them rose into the air, but they were visibly divided into two teams.

One team rushed to the elevated platform to attack Old Cat, in hopes of saving their clan chief. The other team fled from the square.

But regardless of their intention, they were all frozen in place shortly after they rose into the air, before they could get anything done.

Old Cat lowered his posture and swiped his claws. Blood splattered. His claws ripped through the clan chief’s head, but it didn’t claim the latter’s life.

GAH!

The clan chief screamed in agony. His body convulsed as Old Cat forcefully siphoned away the energy harnessed inside his soul.

“Something feels off, Chu Feng. That old stray cat is absorbing the clan chief’s origin energies. It’s not as if he is a world spirit, so why is he absorbing their origin energies?” Eggy asked.

“Old Cat is indeed a cunning one,” Chu Feng remarked.

“What does that mean?” Eggy was confused.

“I’m guessing all War Clansmen have that energy in them. It is rooted in their hereditary bloodline. Old Cat did help the War Clan, but his motives were not pure. He planted something equivalent to a gu in their ancestors, and this gu was passed down through the generations. This gu can be turned into energy for his use,” Chu Feng explained.

“What? That old stray cat is such a schemer! Doesn’t that mean that the War Clan’s ancestors made the right choice to leave Old Cat to the lurch? Otherwise, they would have been destroyed by now!” Eggy widened her eyes.

“There’s no way to say for sure, but it is indeed an underhanded trick,” Chu Feng replied.

Xianhai Shaoyu, Little Fishy, and Lord Zhenlong were taken aback as well. They, too, could tell that something was amiss even if their analysis wasn’t as thorough as Chu Feng’s.

Soon, the clan chief died amidst excruciating pain.

Old Cat pulled out his claws and licked them before turning his gaze to the remaining clansmen.

“War Clan, it’s time to pay your debt.”

Old Cat placed his paws together and invoked a secret skill. His tiny body swiftly enlarged till it was tens of thousands of meters tall. He didn’t look fierce no matter how he tried when he was small, but now that he was massive, he naturally commanded an air of intimidation.

Many Ancient Era’s War Clansmen peed their pants. They knew this was the end for them.

Old Cat opened his mouth, and a powerful wind brewed. Soon, a powerful suction force engulfed the square.

Shrill screams followed. All Ancient Era’s War Clansmen were experiencing the same pain their clan chief suffered earlier.

“Save me, Chu Feng! Save me!” Chu Feng vaguely heard a plea.

Looking over, he saw Zhan Moli. She had become so emaciated that her skin was clinging to her bones. She looked at Chu Feng with pleading eyes.

Anyone else would have felt sorry for her despite knowing she deserved it.

But Chu Feng merely smiled at her and mouthed, “Farewell.”

That single word seemed to contain magic in it, as Zhan Moli first widened her eyes before her head tilted to the side. She was dead.

The other Ancient Era’s War Clansmen, due to their lower cultivation, didn’t last as long as their clan chief did. Their vitals disappeared in just an instant.

Old Cat returned to his original size, but he didn’t descend to the ground. His domineering aura continued to loom over the square.

With a wave of his sleeves, all the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen’s Cosmos Sacks unraveled. Glowing treasures and natural oddities surged into the sky like brilliant stars, lighting up the surroundings.

Old Cat descended toward Chu Feng. Grabbing Chu Feng’s shoulder, he grandly gestured to the sky and said, “Brother Chu Feng, you have contributed the most to my comeback. You may take any treasure of your liking.”

Chu Feng noticed that the metal lump he desired wasn’t in the sky even though he saw the exquisite box holding it rising upward too. He felt a tinge of disappointment. If Old Cat was reluctant to give him the best treasure, it was even more unlikely for him to accompany him to the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion.

Just then, Old Cat suddenly spoke up, “Brother Chu Feng, I should give you my answer now that I am done dealing with the War Clan. About what you mentioned earlier, I’ll help you.”
